UK Government, DFIDEnvironmental Impact Assessment ~ damsEnvironmental and socio-economic studies undertaken for Department for Water Affairs in Botswana for proposed water storage scheme - benefits and disbenefits of building major dams in the region, and on what the downstream effects would be on water users (irrigation schemes, potable supply, industrial use) if large percentages of the water supply were retained in large dams upstream of the general use areas. Several existing dam s in the region were reviewed and a socio-economic study identified the importance financially, agriculturally and culturally of the dams, particularly small dams, as a focus for stock watering and community interaction.
